IBSC 21 Bridget Thompson, John Lukehart, and Big Al Daughtery

This is part two of the September 25th 2016 blues showcase.  It stars Bridget Thompson, John Lukehart, and Big Al Daughtery.  Show was engineered by Doug Trammell, produced by Tom Gary, and Doug Trammell, director of bands, Jono Smith, with John Lee Eagan, Dave Andrews, Rick Mo, John Luna, and special guests Bridget Thompson, and Sardona Cochrane.  

IBSC 20 Bob Dorr, Jeff Peterson, Backstage Boogie Band, and Clarence Key JR.

Brand new show staring Bob Dorr, and Jeff Peterson (the Blue Two), the Backstage Boogie Band, and Clarence Key Jr.  Show produced and engineered by Doug Trammell, and Tom Gary, with the worlds most dangerous blues band directed by Jono Smith, with John Lee, Eagan, Dave Andrews, Rick Mosquedea and Jonny Luna.  This show was recorded September 25th 2016 at the Speed Lyceum at Grand View University.  Our next live show will be October 30, 7pm.   

IBSC 19 Bad Boys of the Blues

episode 19 features the Bad Boys of the Blues.  This is the current version with Jon East, Norman Su, Tom Gary, and Scotty Hartung.  The Band was the house band for the Sunday Night Blues Showcase at the Hull Ave, Ingersoll Tap, and the Gas Lamp.  Not to be confused with the original Bad Boys of the Blues, which was the former house band for the Iowa Blues Showcase (now known as the Worlds Most  Dangerous Blues Band)  

all but one song was produced by Lee Bell, with the song Baby Don't Do It recorded by Al Daughery.  Also Curry Harter was featured on harmonica. 

IBSC 18 Larry Stoltenberg, The Other Brothers, and Gary Smith

Part two of the 2-8-2003 Iowa Blues Showcase featuring Des Moines on $50, Larry "Red" Stoltenberg, The original Other Brothers, and Gary Smith.  The show was produced by Jay Taylor, hosted by Tom Gary, director of bands Jono Smith, with John Lee Eagan, Dave Andrews, Rick Mosquedea, and Don Brown.  

IBSC 17 Roy Cashman, and Jeff Baker

Episode 17 was originally recorded on Feb 8th 2003.  It features Roy Cashman, and Jeff Baker.  Tonights show was produced by Jay Taylor, hosted by Tom Gary, with Jono Smith director of bands.  The house band featured John Lee Eagan, Dave Andrews, Rick Mosqueda, Frank Strong, and Don Brown.

tonights show features Iowa Blues guitarist Erick Hovey and his 2009 recording of Blues Farm.  Eric is a regional artist from the Fort Dodge area, on this recording features Erick on guitar and vocals, Andy Blumenthal on Harmonica, Jeff Forman on Drums, Dan Lodden on Bass, (he also engineered and recorded the CD)  Al Forman on Trumpet, Tom Gary on Keys, Heather Kelly on Vocals, and a host of back up singers.  Remember to download, like, and subscribe!!!!!!!!

IBSC 15 Ron Hill Tribute

Tonights show is a special tribute to Ron Hill. We (me and JC Anderson) have lost contact with Ron and are trying to find him.  Please contact me at bluesman2001@hotmail.com if you should see him or know where he is.  Listen to the podcast for more details.  Last seen in Chicago, probably living in New Mexico.   Ron grew up on Center Street, and due to segregation and his uncle being a local jazz piano player, his home became a boarding house for some of the greatest blues, and Jazz musicians around.  This recording is from 2002 and is pure southern soul!  It was recorded mostly in Iowa at Juniors motel, and Catamount studios.  On the record were Ron Hill, on lead vocal and bass, JC Anderson on guitar, Kurt Kaufman on guitar, Brian Marten on Keyboard, Sam Salamone on B3, Howard Freekson on Drums, Paul Thompson on Drums, John Hahn on Drums, Ky Haub on Drums, Plus Ron's grandkids, Sean and Scott on Drums and guitar.
